Information on the activities of SHP and the Philhellenism Museum
Presentation of winners of the International Lord Byron Prize for 2022
The Society for Hellenism and Philhellenism (SHP), whose functions have been placed under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited today the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nikos Dendias.
SHP presented the three personalities who were selected, in order to receive the International Lord Byron Prize for the year 2022.
These are:
– Jean Claude Juncker, former President of the European Commission (Luxembourg),
– Jack Lew, former Secretary of the Treasury (USA),
– Klaus P. Regling, Chief Executive Officer of the European Financial Stability Facility and Managing Director of the European Stability Mechanism (Germany).
These three personalities have exercised their duties during their careers, in a way that is completely compatible with the principles and values of philhellenism, they have bravely faced important international crises and have offered admirable work to the society as a whole. At the same time, each one from his position, all three stood firmly on the side of Greece, during the recent economic crisis, which Greece has now successfully overcome.
The three laureates have officially accepted the Prize. The ceremony will take place in 2022 at the Academy of Athens.
At the same time, SHP presented to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dendias, the actions it implements in 2022, the plans of the Philhellenism Museum and the Philhellenes Monument which will be placed at Vasilissis Sofias in Athens.
The President of SHP and the Philhellenism Museum, Mr. C. Velentzas thanked Mr. Dendias for the support and auspices offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in all these actions and handed him a series of 10 medals of important Philhellenes.
