Markos Botsaris
Painting by an unknown painter of the first half of the 19th century, based on a work by Jean-Charles Langlois (1789-1870). It presents the death of Markos Botsaris. The painting shows one of the bravest, most famous and selfless Greek fighters of the Greek War pf Independence, who was together with Canaris, the most famous Greek figure in Europe and in the USA, during the Revolution. It also features images of the struggle, in which international public opinion sought identities with heroic moments from ancient Greece. Oil on wood.
