Painting with a Philhellenic subject

Georgios Karaiskakis (1782-1827), was one of the greatest leaders of the Greek Revolution. He took part in countless battles and was fatally wounded in the battle of Faliro on April 22, 1827. He died in the early hours of the next day, surrounded by his comrades (early 19th century, painting by the Italian painter A. De Feoli).
