The event to honor the great Philhellene, general Karl Norman, took place with great success on Friday, October 20, 2023, at the Ehrenfels family tower, south of Stuttgart, where he lived before coming to Greece in January 1822 as commander of the Battalion of Philhellenes.

The event was organized perfectly by the association of the Hellenic Community in Germany and especially by its president Costas Kahrimanidis. It was attended by a large number of people as well as many Greek and German officials, such as the ambassador of Greece in Germany Ms. Marinakis, the regional governor Mr. Tappeser and mayors of the region, several members of parliament from Greece and the European Parliament, as well as descendants of Greek fighters of the Greek Revolution. The presence of the Presidential Guard, which the next day participated in the parade in Stuttgart, added a special color to the event for the national anniversary of October 28.

It is worth noting that the event was also attended by three descendants of General Norman: Count Paul von Normann-Ehrenfels, who was honored last year by the SHP with the Lord Byron Medal, as well as Ms. Ute Gruber and Ms. Angela Lehmann, who are direct descendants of the general, something that only recently became known, thanks to the tireless research of the SHP to locate and honor descendants of Philhellenes.

The SHP was represented by its vice-president, Mr. Costas Papailiou.

Mr. Papailiou will speak on November 28, 2023 at an event at the well-known Hegel-Haus museum in Stuttgart to a German audience about the great Philhellene Norman.
